Amanda Rockwood started her true fitness journey in 2009. After having her two eldest daughters, she knew it was time to get healthy, fit and strong. She found that with hard work, dedication, and a ton of sweat, anything was possible.
Amanda had started with interval training, kickboxing, and traditional weight lifting. In the summer of 2009, she took on the challenge given to her by a friend to learn kettlebells. From the moment she picked up her first bell, she was hooked! She had found her passion, kettlebells, fitness, and leading a healthy lifestyle. Not only did Amanda want this for herself, but she was determined to share this way of life with EVERYONE. In the spring of 2010 Amanda registered for the RKC Level I Certification program, by that summer she had her first certification under her belt and was training clients. She knew she could help motivate and inspire people and never looked back.
For the past 7 years, Amanda has been a lead trainer at various fitness centers in the Northland. She is proud and honored to have been a part of so many people's fitness journeys. Amanda will continue to expand her knowledge so she will be able to guide, support, and push her students to that next level of meeting and exceeding their goals.
In 2012 Amanda was given another challenge by a friend, to run a marathon. Being that she had NEVER run in her life, this seemed like a huge undertaking. Through training and a "never quit" attitude, Amanda finished her first marathon and found a new love for running and racing. She has since then gone on to do various trail and obstacle races, taking on her 1st 50k Ultramarathon in the summer of 2016.
One of Amanda's strong beliefs in life is that everything happens for a reason. This was proven true to her at the starting line of the 2012 Grandma’s Marathon where she was introduced to Paul Rockwood. A partner with the same passion and love for not only pushing himself to meet and exceed goals, but also to help others do the same.
Together with the support of their family and friends they were able to create Green Light Fitness. A fitness center unlike any other. Not because of the equipment inside or the color of the walls, but because of the heart and soul behind their passion to change the lives of each and every person they come in contact with.
Paul was born here in Superior and has lived in the area his whole life. He was active growing up, playing basketball and football throughout high school. He enjoys camping and being outdoors as much as possible and likes to learn new skills and information. Since graduating from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a focus in marketing along with a minor in psychology, Paul has dove headfirst into pursuing a healthy lifestyle full of fitness.
He started in 2011 with signing up to run Grandma's Marathon. He previously had never run more than a few miles continuous ever in his life. The enjoyment he got from seeing the progress during training and the feeling he got from finishing the race was the start of a newly formed passion and lifestyle change. Later that summer he did his first few triathlons and was officially hooked. Along with increased exercising came an awakening of the importance of quality nutrition with respect to not only maximizing fitness training and performance abilities, but also in building a body that is healthy inside and out.
On his 24th birthday he decided to sign up for Ironman Wisconsin in Madison which requires a lead time of one year in advance as well as a hefty entry fee. That commitment pushed Paul through the many grueling workouts over that winter and through the warmer seasons. He finished the 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride, capped off by a 26.2 mile marathon run in just over ten and a half hours with a smile on his face. The next day he signed up again. Paul has continued to participate in Grandma's Marathon and many other long distance triathlons since and is excited to keep progressing into a better all around athlete. He values being an all-around athlete and maintaining a high level of fitness in all disciplines such as strength, endurance, flexibility, and balance..
He is a certified RKC Kettlebell instructor and has developed a knowledge throughout his training necessary to help others transform safely through the progressions of a variety of fitness goals. Just like his wife Amanda, he lives the lifestyle of striving to become as healthy and fit as possible, and is therefore a student of the dynamic world we live in, constantly learning new things and evolving the way he lives.
Paul met Amanda at the starting line of Grandma's Marathon in 2012 and they have since grown to share a life and passion of fitness together that has blossomed into GreenLight Fitness. He is excited to assist others in reaching their fitness goals and to see the positive impact GreenLight Fitness can have on their overall health, happiness, and well-being.
